ASAF TENNESSEE MANN
Film Director and Architect, has gained worldwide attention for his Music Videos, covered by “Vogue”, “MTV”, “Dazed and Confused”, “Spin”, “Fader”, “Time”, the Music and Fashion Industries, as well as for his award winning Architectural Projects.
A.T.Mann began his career at the Berlin based firm Naegeli Architects, in time developing to the position of partner within Mann Shinar Architects in Tel Aviv, leading such projects as Ramon Int’l Airport and the National Library in Jerusalem, in partnership with the Swiss firm Herzog and DeMeuron Architects.
With an itch for Cinema, A.T.Mann began writing scripts and shooting short movies, receiving an MFA in filmmaking from Tel Aviv University.
A.T.Mann’s influences spread wide from French New Wave to Old School Rap to the Classics, his source being an 80s childhood in “Whiskey Point”, an Irish neighbor- hood in Brookline, Mass. drawing him tight to the Beasties, Run DMC, Francis Ford’s “Rumble Fish”, Zeppelin, Jovi, Brian Adams, Terence Malik, old Monster Movies, and Kubrick.
“Growing up in the tough Brookline surrounding got me at times to escape from fights into my room and imagination, while still workin’ my way thru the hood as a dreamy outsider. It positioned me into a restless being constantly looking for an edge and act by this motto:
“Just do it” +
“Think different” =
“Revolution now”
Nicknamed after the American playwright Tennessee Williams, after directing a wild off the cuff theatrical production of “Streetcar”, A.T.Mann felt the urge to focus on direction. Alongside his architectural career, he began directing music videos interlacing homages from cinematic moments he loves.
He began working with various artists, focusing on the London based Island Record’s artist Petite Meller, for which he directed her hit “Baby Love”, landing her a 2017 nomination for MTV EMA’s Best New Artist. His videos for Petite have been nominated for Cannes, Berlin, and the L A Music Video festivals.
A.T.Mann, with represent- ation in the US and the UK, is currently expanding into commercials and fashion advertising, as well as work on a TV Series, and a script for a debut feature film.
